There are many groups concerned with climate justice and working on international, national and local responses to climate change.  The list below provides a preliminary overview.

  • Physicians for Social Responsibility (Tucson branch)

    Physicians for Social Responsibility are a group of health professionals and concerned citizens who advocate for better and more informed environmental health decision-making. Their Environment and Health Program addresses toxics and global warming

  • Sonoran Institute

    The Sonoran Institute’s mission is to connect people and communities with the natural resources that nourish and sustain them. They work at the nexus of commerce, community, and conservation to help bring about a West where civil dialogue and collaboration are hallmarks of decision making, where people and wildlife live in harmony, and where clean water, air, and energy are assured.

  • Students for Sustainability (University of Arizona Student Union)

    Students for Sustainability is program with the Associated Students of the University of Arizona that empowers students, builds leaders, and pursues institutionalized sustainability at the University of Arizona and within the surrounding community. Their Environmental Social Justice Committee’s mission is to confront injustices at the intersection of environmentalism and social inequity.

  • Rising Tide

    Rising Tide works to create a network that prioritizes local grassroots organizing yet remains firmly engaged in international social movements; which promotes solidarity and collaboration with impacted communities and local social justice struggles; which challenges corporate-friendly “solutions” to climate change; and which organizes with a horizontal, anti-oppressive framework that promotes social justice as inextricably linked to biocentrism and environmentalism.
